Why did you choose to attend LSU?
I was very excited by the fact that LSU has an entire college devoted to my intended field of study. The College of the Coast and the Environment is another small community in a large university. I knew it would provide specialized resources and opportunities that I could not find anywhere else. I also liked how freshman are encouraged to start undergraduate research.

What is your proudest accomplishment at LSU so far, and what goals do you have for the remainder of your time at LSU?
I am proud of getting accepted into the Louisiana Service and Leadership Program, which facilitates service-learning to address Louisiana’s most pressing issues, particularly coastal erosion and poverty. During my undergraduate career, I would like to develop a diverse group of lifelong friends, build a strong academic foundation to prepare for graduate school, graduate with honors, and obtain a well-rounded education by minoring or double majoring in Spanish.

How have you used, or how do you intend to use, your Stamps Scholar enrichment funds?
Next year I would like to study abroad in a Spanish-speaking country. Global issues like climate change require global solutions and collaboration. Spain, and many Latin American countries, face similar environmental issues as Louisiana but may have different ways of thinking about and addressing them.

Tell me about a fellow Stamps Scholar, or an Honors College faculty or staff member, who has made a difference during your time at LSU.
Dean Earle and Dr. Fontenot have both been so encouraging, supportive, and helpful. They are genuinely invested in the success and development of students. Their enthusiasm inspires and their care has truly made the Honors College feel like home.

What is your favorite memory as an LSU Stamps Scholar?
On the first day of classes, all the freshmen shared their back-to-school picture in the Stamps group text message, and Sarah Glass and Sanna Alam treated us to ice cream at the LSU AgCenter Dairy Store.
