Why did you choose to attend LSU?
Being so far from home, I can experience new places and cultures that would otherwise be unavailable in Montana. At LSU, the opportunities are endless, both academically and extracurricular. I plan to take advantage of that.
What extracurricular programs are you involved in?
I started working on research from day one and joined multiple clubs, including Running Club and Developer Student Club.
What is your proudest accomplishment at LSU so far, and what goals do you have for the remainder of your time at LSU?
My proudest accomplishment is being chosen to work with Dr. Qingyang Wang. With this opportunity, I have continued the research I started in high school concerning wildfire risk assessment. I cannot wait to see where the next four years takes this project.
What does receiving the Stamps Scholarship mean to you and your family?
Receiving the Stamps Scholarship is the ultimate recognition for all of the hard work in my high school career. Most importantly, it has completely relieved stress related to paying for school for my parents and me.
How has your enrollment in the Honors College enhanced your LSU experience?
The Honors College’s small classes are easily my favorite as they allow for unique discussion on pressing topics, an environment rarely found in a traditional college class.
What are your future career aspirations?
Alongside Dr. Qingyang Wang, I plan to continue my research into wildfire risk assessment. Due to climate change, wildfires are burning at a higher and more intense rate than in previous years, and I hope to mitigate the detrimental effects that they impose on places like my home state of Montana.
What would you say to the donors of LSU, specifically the Stamps Scholarship Program?
Thank you for granting me this amazing opportunity. Because of your generosity, I have the freedom to truly develop as an individual during my time at LSU.
