What does receiving the Stamps Scholarship mean to you and your family?
Being named a Stamps Scholar means that I can focus on cultivating my knowledge and engaging in enriching experiences without continually worrying about financing my education. The extraordinary opportunities, such as the study abroad programs and research positions and a culture centered around success and giving back through positive contributions, will make all the difference in creating a memorable and meaningful collegiate experience.
How have you used, or how do you intend to use your Stamps Scholar enrichment funds?
I hope to use my enrichment funds to study abroad and immerse myself in a Spanish-speaking country to help me realize my goal of becoming proficient in the language. I’m a fervent believer in expanding one’s experiences to increase one’s cultural competency. I also hope to use the funds to travel to at least one conference and fund an internship over the summer.
How has your enrollment in the Honors College enhanced your LSU experience?
The Honors College has greatly enhanced my academic experience by exposing me to thought-provoking questions and discussions – especially in my seminar class where I can hear and contribute to the interesting discourse about many topics. Overall, the staff and the students have been extremely welcoming, which has made my transition to college life easy.
What would you say to the donors of LSU, specifically the Stamps Scholarship Program?
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I truly believe that this scholarship has changed the trajectory of my life. I’ve always been determined to be successful and leave a lasting impact on the world around me, and with this prestigious scholarship, I feel that I truly have the means to begin doing this. Being a Stamps Scholar has already opened so many doors in my life, providing me access to opportunities that I would never have been privy to anywhere else. I promise to utilize my resources as a Stamps Scholar to enact positive change in the world around me.
