Burton D. Weaver Jr.
Burton D. Weaver of Flora, La., earned a bachelor's degree in business administration
from Northwestern State University in 1957 and a bachelor's degree in forestry from
LSU in 1960.
Weaver is the general partner and forester of Weaver Brothers Land & Timber Company.
Weaver is married to Sue Wells Fowler. He was married to the late Jerri Roberts, with
whom he has four children.
Weaver's professional organizations include the Society of American Foresters, the
Louisiana Forestry Association, the LSU Forestry Alumni Association, the Louisiana
Forestry Commission, and the Louisiana Forestry Foundation. He was elected president
of Public Affairs Research Council in 2001. His community activities include Weaver
United Methodist Church, the Natchitoches Parish Jaycees, the Louisiana Jaycees, the
Natchitoches Parish Chamber of Commerce, the Flora Community Center, Natchitoches
Academy, Inc., St. Mary's School, Louisiana Alliance, Jury Commission Natchitoches
Parish, Louisiana Outdoor Drama Association, Natchitoches Parish Library Board of
Control, Natchitoches Parish Playground & Recreation Board, Natchitoches Parish Tourism
Commission, and Democratic State Central Committee of Louisiana.
Weaver is a former board member.
