Roy O. Martin III
Roy O. Martin III is chairman, CEO, and CFO of Martin Sustainable Resources, LLC;
Martco LLC, a manufacturer of OSB, plywood, timbers, land/timber operations; and Martin
Timberland. Martin is also the owner of 560,000 acres in Louisiana. He was a director
and co-founder of Indigo Natural Resources, LLC, a Houston-based oil and natural gas
exploration company. Born in Alexandria, La., Martin is a 1978 graduate of Bolton
High School.
He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1982 after receiving a Bachelor of
Science in mechanical engineering (Tau Beta Pi). He continued his education at LSU,
obtaining his MBA in 1985. In 2008, Martin was named to LSU’s Alumni Hall of Distinction
and the E. J. Ourso College of Business Hall of Distinction. In 2011, Martin was inducted
into the LSU College of Engineering Hall of Distinction, and Tiger Athletic Foundation
Hall of Distinction, and Society for Engineering Excellence. He currently is serving
as the chair for the Tiger Athletic Foundation board of directors.

Martin has also served on the Louisiana Recovery Authority, Greater Alexandria Economic
Development Authority (GAEDA), LSU Health Sciences Foundation, Louisiana Commission
on Streamlining Government and Workers’ Compensation Advisory Council, and the Louisiana
Workforce Investment Council, to which he was appointed by sitting Governor John Bel
Edwards. He and Jonathan Martin were presented with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur
of the Year Award for the Southern District in 2004. Martin was selected by former
Governor Bobby Jindal to fill the member-at-large position on the Louisiana Board
of Regents in January of 2012 and was elected Chair in 2015.
He serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council of E. J. Ourso School of Business, the College
of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council, and the chair of the American Panel Association.
Martin was Deacon Chair at Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria, La., and former chair
of the Calvary Building Committee for 20 years. His current work is on the Salvation
Army board, working to construct an emergency homeless shelter for women, families,
and veterans. Most recently, Martin was honored with the LSUA Distinguished Service
Award, following the footsteps of his father, Roy O. Martin, Jr, who was a founding
member of the LSUA Foundation and the inaugural recipient of this award 29 years ago.
