MY LSU

Why did you choose to build a career with the LSU Foundation?
I chose to build my career with the LSU Foundation for several reasons. First and foremost, as an alumna of LSU, I have a deep love and appreciation for the university and its community. Joining the Foundation allows me to give back and contribute to its ongoing success. Additionally, working for a nonprofit organization aligns with my values and provides a sense of purpose in my work. The LSU Foundation also offers fabulous benefits and supports the continued education of its employees through programs like tuition reimbursement and professional certification incentives. I am thrilled to be part of this organization. Geaux Tigers!

What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical workday for me as the associate director of human resources at the LSU Foundation is filled with a variety of tasks. I spend a significant portion of my day answering employee questions regarding policies, procedures, and benefit details and addressing any inquiries related to our payroll system, Paylocity. I also work closely with employees to support their work/life balance by assisting with FMLA, crisis leave, parental leave, and other related matters.

In addition, I am responsible for processing payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payments to our dedicated staff. Managing employee benefits is another important aspect of my role. This involves administering retirement plans, medical and dental programs, and disability programs. I handle benefit change reporting, approve invoices for payment, and evaluate policies for cost-effectiveness. I also conduct new employee benefits onboarding and manage the annual open enrollment process, communicating changes to employees and arranging onsite representation by providers.

To ensure compliance with employment laws, I dedicate time to administration and compliance tasks, such as maintaining personnel files and processing employee status changes. I prepare reports to analyze HR metrics, benefit costs, staffing levels, and turnover. Additionally, I collaborate with the Talent Management team on engagement events and coordinate new hire onboarding and orientation sessions.

As part of my supervisory responsibilities, I manage the office administrator position and provide support and assistance to employees with any questions or issues that arise. Finally, I actively contribute to the development of operating policies and procedures.

Overall, my workday is dynamic and rewarding, as I strive to support our employees and ensure a positive work experience at the LSU Foundation.

I really loved processing my first payroll at the Foundation! Everything was done correctly and timely, which felt really great stepping into a new role!

Where is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the LSU Parade Grounds. It holds sentimental value for me as I have many fond memories of studying there on sunny days, participating in tailgating activities, attending concerts, and enjoying picnic lunches with friends. It's a versatile space where I can also spend quality time with my dog, playing fetch, and watching my toddlers happily run around. The parade grounds embodies the lively atmosphere and sense of community that makes LSU a special place.
