MY LSU

Why did you choose to build a career with the LSU Foundation?
When asked to join the LSU Foundation team, the answer was an easy, “Yes, yes, yes!” As a lifelong Tiger fan, lover of Louisiana, and supporter of higher education, it was a dream to be given the opportunity to continue to build a career in fundraising with the LSU Foundation, a foundation that I and many others consider to be the best of the best in higher education fundraising.

What does a typical day look like for you?
My day starts early, typically 5 a.m., with taking care of my herd of pets (one German Sheppard, three cats, and a king snake), packing lunches, and cooking breakfast to prepare everyone for the day. After preparing myself for the day, I take part in everyone’s favorite pastime, Baton Rouge traffic on I-12 and I-10. It’s worth it, though, because that leads me to a day in my office at LSU Vet Med, where amazing colleagues wait for morning coffee conversation, to begin another busy but joyful day of fundraising for education and research, and to better the state of Louisiana. Every day consists of at least three cups of coffee, eggs for breakfast, and sushi for lunch (in a perfect world). My post-work routine changes daily; my favorite days end with me going home to my husband, enjoying the evening on our porch, cooking dinner, and having a 9:30 p.m. bedtime to prepare to do it all again. It may not seem exciting, but I assure you every day finds a way to be exciting and brings new challenges.

Tell us about your favorite work win or moment when you truly felt the impact of your work.
I was lucky to feel the impact of my work during my second week on the job while meeting with a donor whose connection and love for LSU are unique because of the LSU Ag department's impact on her daughter's life. Her daughter was a first-generation college student who chose LSU because it was close to home. The donor was very excited, but at the time, she did not know that she would be the one leaving behind a legacy at LSU. My donor began supporting the AgCenter and College of Agriculture by giving her time when she started to see the transformative impact it had on her daughter's life as a freshman. Though her daughter has now graduated, this donor continues to support the college through monthly giving and volunteerism. She actively supports events and speaks at incoming freshmen events about the life of an LSU parent. Last year, she and her daughter took their support to a higher level. Together, they developed a scholarship to support students like her daughter: female, first-generation agricultural students who need financial support.

Where is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the LSU AgCenter Dairy Store. Being able to see the work of our students firsthand is always a treat, and being able to have delicious ice cream and great cuts of meat right here on campus is an added bonus!
