David S. Dawson

David Dawson retired from Chevron in 2021 after a 39-year career. In his last role, he served as the general manager for asset development in Thailand. A native of New Orleans, Dawson graduated from LSU in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in petroleum engineering and a Master of Science in engineering from the University of New Orleans in 1994. During his career, he served in numerous managerial residential assignments in Louisiana, California, Texas, Canada, England, Scotland, Thailand, and Angola and worked in many other countries. Dawson is a long-time member and contributor to the LSU Alumni Association and Tiger Athletic Foundation, endowing multiple academic scholarships. He and his wife, Cari, have been married for 41 years, have two children (one an LSU MBA alumnus), and three grandsons. They are active members of Chapelwood Methodist Church in Houston, through which they participate in a number of volunteer activities.
