Jeffrey Carbo

Headshot of Jeffrey Carbo, LSU Foundation National Board Member.Jeffrey Carbo, PLA, FASLA, of Baton Rouge, La., is an alumnus of LSU, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture in 1985. Carbo is a Landscape Architect with over 35 years of experience in professional practice. In his role as Founding Principal, Carbo provides leadership in client relations, conceptual design, budget development, design criticism, project management, and construction observation. He serves as multi-discipline team leader, with hands-on skills in quality assurance and details.

Carbo holds professional licensure as a Registered Landscape Architect in the State of Louisiana. He is also registered in Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, and North and South Carolina. Since 1998, he has held professional certification by the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB), earned in part through meeting or exceeding professional experience requirements.

At LSU, Carbo is a member of the College of Art & Design Dean’s Circle and serves on the Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture Alumni Advisory Council. In 2007, he received the College of Art & Design Distinguished Alumni Award and was a member of the Forever LSU Campaign Cabinet. In 2011, he was inducted into the LSU Alumni Hall of Distinction, the highest honor given to LSU graduates. CARBO Landscape Architecture is a current USGBC Member and was honored as one of the top 100 fastest growing LSU Tiger businesses during the LSU 100 Awards ceremony in April 2011.  

Additionally, Carbo is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and has been an active member in the local chapter for a number of years. He served as president of the Louisiana Chapter of ASLA in 2000. In 2005, he was elected to the ASLA Class of Fellows. He served on the ASLA National Education Programming Committee and has been a speaker at ASLA Annual Meetings in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011.

Carbo has also been a speaker at numerous state, regional, and national conferences, as well as design conferences and garden organizations throughout the South regarding his firm’s work and philosophy. He has overseen over 80 award winning CARBO projects throughout the Southeastern United States.

Carbo is married to Wendy Carbo, also an LSU alumna (Human Sciences & Education, ’88).

 
 

My LSU Giving Story

What is your favorite memory involving LSU?
My favorite memories are LSU football games, tailgating, meeting my wife, Wendy, at an LSU football game, and discovering the Landscape Architecture curriculum.

What makes LSU unique?
LSU truly embodies all of what is Louisiana; it’s truly a reflection of our diverse people, history, and rich culture.

Why did you choose to attend LSU?
I chose LSU because my parents loved LSU and subtlety lobbied me to Baton Rouge.

Why do you support LSU?
LSU has the potential to more greatly influence the social and economic future of our state and region than any other entity. If LSU is the best at all it offers, the state will benefit immensely. LSU can be the transformational key to our future.

If someone asked you why he/she should make a gift to LSU, what would you say?
A gift to LSU is an investment—an investment in what is important to all of us: a strong and viable economy in a safe, resilient environment that values and prioritizes quality of life.

What is your vision for LSU, and how do you think philanthropy can drive that vision?
I want LSU to be the very best in everything it does, i.e. academically and athletically, truly the flagship university, attracting the best and brightest students from throughout the world.

What motivated you to accept our invitation to be an inaugural member of the LSU Foundation National Board?
I believe in LSU and want to help in any and every way to realize the mission and goals for this campaign.

What most excited you about being part of the National Board?
I’m most excited about meeting others who share a love for and interests in the future of LSU … and making it happen!
