Joaneane Smith-Jones
Joaneane Smith-Jones is the president and CEO of Global Commerce and Services, LLC (GCS). She has more
than 25 years of experience in management consulting and information technology. She
has traveled across the country implementing PeopleSoft for some of the country’s
largest corporations including Smurfit-Stone Container and University of Rochester
to integrate technology solutions and services, as well as small and medium-sized
businesses. There, Smith-Jones received the Top Achiever for Outstanding Performance
and Achievements, Excellence Team Award, as well as the Star Performer Award.
Smith-Jones is a motivated, persistent, and passionate small business owner who ensures
she has the best and the brightest on her management team. As a trailblazer for those
aspiring to enter the technology field, she has consistently led GCS to be an award-winning
technology company, delivering solutions and services to federal government agencies
such as the U.S. Navy, Army, and Air Force, USDA, DISA, NASA, and DHS. Under her leadership
and tutelage, her team makes significant impacts for their clients.
Previous honors include being selected as a commencement speaker for Southern University
at New Orleans and as a keynote speaker at Louisiana State University’s Entrepreneurship
Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities. Smith-Jones also participated in a Washington
D.C. Senate hearing regarding the government furlough.
She remains a consistent supporter for and participates in several community service
organizations with missions aimed at nurturing science, technology, engineering, and
math fields in children and young adults. Smith-Jones volunteers during STEM NOLA’s
STEM FEST, CyberNOLA, as well as the University of New Orleans’ annual Information
Literacy Roundtable Discussion. Other community service involvements include National
Association of University Women, National Council of Negro Women, Adopt-A-Family for
Christmas, volunteering with community housing shelters, assisting Habitat for Humanity
in home repair, delivering food to Second Harvest Food Bank, reading to the kindergarten
class at St. Mary’s Academy, and providing scholarships to several organizations.
