Mark E. Grant

Mark Grant joined CBS Sports in 1998 and serves as a director for CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network, including lead director for college basketball and the NCAA Tournament. He covers college basketball, the NFL, college football, and golf. Grant is a five-time Emmy Award winner and has also been honored with three ACE Awards for excellence in cable television production. A 43-year veteran, Grant has been a trailblazer in the industry, becoming the first African American director of a championship game in any sport when he directed the 2023 NCAA Men’s National Championship and the first African American director at both CBS and ESPN. On November 1, 2020, Grant directed the Los Angeles Chargers-Denver Broncos game on CBS alongside producer Kimani Morales, marking it the first time that an NFL telecast was led by both an African American producer and director. 

Grant is a member of the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Hall of Distinction at LSU in 2021. Grant serves as a mentor to the Manship Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists. In addition, he is often invited by Manship School professors to speak to their classes. Prior to joining CBS Sports, Grant spent 11 years at ESPN. He started his career in local cable television, covering city council and school board meetings, high school sports, parades, and other community events.
