James E. Maurin

James Maurin

James E. Maurin is one of the founders of Stirling Properties and served as its chairman from 1992 through 2012. His professional and civic activities include:

  • International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC): member of its Board of Trustees and PAC. He served as chairman of ICSC for the 2004-2005 term. He has also received ICSC’s professional designation of Certified Shopping Center Manager (CSM) and Certified Shopping Center Executive (CRX).
  • Ochsner Health System: past chairman and a member of the Board of Directors
  • Highland-Cashiers Hospital: member of the Board of Directors
  • Blueprint Louisiana: past chairman, member of the Executive Committee, founding trustee
  • Louisiana State University: past chairman of the Tiger Athletic Foundation (TAF); chairman of LSU’s Real Estate Facilities Foundation; member of the LSU Foundation; member of the LSU College of Business Dean’s Advisory Council; founding member of the LSU Flagship Coalition Executive Committee; LSU Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, 2015
  • Northshore Community Foundation: past chairman and founding member of the Board of Directors

Maurin graduated from LSU in 1970 with a degree in aerospace engineering. He received a Master of Business Administration from Tulane University in 1972 and began his business career as a CPA with the international accounting firm of Ernst and Ernst. He has been active in commercial real estate development and the shopping center industry for over 40 years.
